Calculate the hash for an active file or selected text.

Have you ever wanted to determine the MD5, SHA or CRC hash of a file or just a text string and found out how cumbersome it is on Windows? While Windows does not provide such a function natively, UltraEdit does from now on. Click the "Calculate Hash" button in the Edit tab and UltraEdit shows selectable hashes for the active file. You want to calculate the hash for a string? No problem, select the section and the hash will be calculated only for this section. Additionally there is a command line support for the hash calculation. Use the syntax uedit64 /md5|/crc|/sha1|/sha256 .

Sort file tabs by name, extension and more

You can now sort the files you open by a variety of criteria: Name, file extension, location, and date edited. This can be especially helpful if you want to separate your local files from files opened via FTP. Or you want to see which files were last modified. You can do this by right-clicking on a file tab and selecting the File tabs and Sort submenu. You can also define a default/automatic sorting when you open files. You can achieve this under Advanced > Settings > Application layout > File tabs > More.

Unlimited Bookmarks

You asked for it, you get it. A 500-bookmark limit just isn't enough for an editor that can öopen several gigabytes of files. The limit has been completely removed as of version v20. Also, the bookmark memory has been reworked, as there is no limit anymore. Set bookmarks at line 10, at line 1,000 or at line 100,000!

Bookmark rows with finds

This new option allows you to simply bookmark all rows with finds automatically. These bookmarks are managed separately from the manually set bookmarks. You can easily delete them again using the Delete Find Bookmarks option under Start & Bookmarks.

Modernized dialog for settings and configurations

This release introduces some, conceptual ¨changes in dialogs and prompts. Where possible, the "Ok", "Apply" and "Cancel" buttons have been omitted. Changes and settings are applied as soon as the dialog is closed, as is now common in modern Windows settings windows. Additionally, settings are now saved more frequently to prevent accidental loss of settings changes.

Includes UltraCompare

Complementing your file management suite, UltraCompare offers numerous features that allow you to compare text files and directories, .zip and .jar archives. The comparison features for text files include binary and text comparison of two or three files simultaneously, with the possibility to merge differences between the files. Folder comparison supports comparison of local and remote directories (including subdirectories with recursive folder comparison) and comparison within .zip files. And as with text/binär comparison, you can also merge differences between directories.
